What to Consider When Appointing a Structural Engineer

What to Consider When Appointing a Structural Engineer

Professional Membership

For any project which involves the design, modification or removal of a structural element we would strongly recommend the appointment of an Engineer who is a member of a professional engineering institution.

We are members of the Institution of Structural Engineers. Our directors hold chartered status with the institution and are entitled to use the post nominals MIStructE:

“This designation is respected around the world as a marker of professional and technical excellence”

The Institution of Structural Engineers

"As members of a professional institution, we are held to a high standard and have access to the most up to date innovations, technical guidance and literature. Being held to the highest standards has a direct benefit to you, the client."
We are also chartered members of the Engineering Council. Our directors are entitled to use the post nominal (C.Eng).

“Chartered Engineers (CEng) develop solutions to engineering problems using new or existing technologies, through innovation, creativity and change and/or they may have technical accountability for complex systems with significant levels of risk” (The Engineering Council).

Professional Membership

As professional engineers we are obliged to carry appropriate professional indemnity insurance. We work hard with our insurers to ensure that this is comprehensive. This protects us as a practice and you as the client.

Qualified

A pre-requisite of Chartership is the attainment of an accredited degree in an Engineering Discipline. All work is overseen by a Chartered Engineer.
